Leadership Update
It has been an exciting year at WCGH Foundation. Here’s an update from Dr Robert O’Dwyer and Ellen Brown:
Our Cafe is becoming more and more successful, thanks to the innovation shown by Leslie and all the staff, always looking for improvements in food offered and the service that they provide. It is a going concern and is consistently showing a profit, which, of course, returns to the Foundation and then is reinvested in the Hospital and Westhaven. We are so grateful to everyone who keeps the Cafe going successfully, both the people who work there and the people who buy there! We thank you for your support! No part of our operation has been immune to change this year, including Alberni Lifeline. Dodi has maintained her incredible “can-do” outlook, and she has seen us through changes in the monitoring, in the intake process, in the equipment used, really, every aspect of service has changed, all with an eye to improving service to our clients. Dodi has led us through it, always keeping her focus on the ultimate goal - how it works for the client.
Then there’s the WCGH Foundation itself- as you can see on our accompanying list of what we’ve purchased, the “town with a heart” continues to see our local Hospital and Westhaven as a valuable assets in Port Alberni and is so very generous, even in difficult times. We are so grateful for your continuing support. We held our second annual Donor Appreciation Event on May 8th and it great for the donors to see impact of their donations on direct patient care, and it was also lots of fun! We are privileged to have Erin Williams as our Executive Director. Erin is going into her third year with the Foundation, and we couldn’t be more grateful for her enthusiasm, creativity, support and guidance. We have such a strong team at the Foundation with Erin at the helm. We have a support team of Paulette Turner as our Bookkeeper and steadfast supporter, Rob Anderson as our Accountant, Costal Community Credit Union as our Financial Advisors, and our wonderful Volunteers.
The Board of Directors are members of the community who generously give of their time and energy to ensure that the Foundation is strongly rooted in serving the community both in the present and into the future. We have had the opportunity to add to our numbers in the last few months, welcoming skilled and committed individuals like Melanie Braker and Marissa Olsen.
We love what we do on the WCGHF Foundation, and look forward to continued growth in service to our hospital and Westhaven.
