Welcome to the WCGH Foundation

Our Foundation is the key fundraising partner of the West Coast General Hospital. The hospital serves the Alberni Valley, the West Coast communities of Bamfield, Ucluelet and Tofino, and all points in between. The Foundation raises funds to support capital projects that are beyond the budgetary limits of the Hospital to ensure our whole community benefits from enhanced healthcare services. In 29 years of operation, together with our generous donors, we have raised over $4,000,000 to purchase or assist in the purchase of vital equipment for our hospital.

WCGHF Response to the COVID-19 Crisis

During this current health crisis, the Foundation has sensibly curtailed our public presence in the hospital. We have closed the West Coast Café until further notice.  Both the Foundation business office and the Alberni Lifeline Monitoring (ALM) office at the hospital are also closed.  However, our work continues with our staff serving the community from their home locations.  Our published telephone numbers, email addresses and website query systems, both for the Foundation and for Alberni Lifeline Monitoring, are still in operation and we are monitoring our WCGHF and ALM Facebook pages daily.  We will answer your calls and messages as quickly as possible.

Island Health has advised that the Provincial and Federal governments are providing all health authorities with the necessary funding to respond effectively to COVID-19, including providing care to those who need it and supporting staff and physicians.

On behalf of the Alberni Valley and West Coast communities served by WCGH, the Foundation wishes to acknowledge with sincere gratitude the efforts of all health care workers, hospital support staff, administration, and public health officials who are working hard to ensure our health and well-being during this challenging time.

The WCGH Foundation remains poised to support our hospital and Westhaven long-term care home once this pandemic has passed.  In the meantime, we would ask that our existing donors and others who may now be drawn to support health care in our community consider newly emerging needs our health care facilities may have once the current crisis ends.

Thank you for your on-going generosity, support and understanding. Be safe and be well.
