Born and raised in Vancouver, Marissa pursued her post secondary education at the University of Northern British Columbia. After receiving her degree in Political Science and International Studies, she relocated to Victoria to work at ground zero of politics- the Legislative Assembly of B.C. After a decade in public service, she relocated to the Alberni Valley, jokingly referring to the move as her “rehabilitation into society” and enjoyed a quieter pace of life. That peace didn’t last long: a sudden medical emergency reminded her firsthand how vital, compassionate, accessible healthcare truly is. Grateful for the care she received, she’s now paying it forward—determined to improve and support patient and practitioner experience.
