We want to thank you all for your thoughtful contributions to our 2018 Holiday Season campaign and for your year-round support of the WCGH Foundation’s mission---to help make ourWest Coast General Hospital the best possible health care facility for each and every resident of the Alberni Valley and West Coast communities it serves.
Formed in 1990, the WCGH Foundation is one of the principal fundraising partners of the West Coast General Hospital. With generous donations and support from the community over the past 28 years, the Foundation has raised over $4,000,000 to purchase or assist in the purchase of essential equipment for WCGH, including: patient lifts, ultrasound machines, fetal monitor, ICU ventilator, pediatric dental surgical tools, mammography monitors, endoscopy equipment, a laser for treatment of bladder & kidney stones, and our own diagnostic CT scanner. These and many other equipment purchases over the years illustrate the Foundation’s ongoing work to ensure everyone, young and old, has access to the best possible health care right here in our community.
This past Holiday Season, we asked for your support to meet a need identified by WCGH Medical Imaging Department staff for a new state-of-the-art Ultrasound machine. With your generous donations, in addition to a contribution from the profits of Alberni Lifeline Monitoring, Inc., we have now raised over $75,000 toward the overall cost of $100,000 for this much-needed equipment. The WCGH Foundation sincerely thanks our donors and users of Alberni Lifeline for your contributions to this most recent fundraising campaign. We are pleased to report that the new ultrasound machine is already in use, its enhanced features designed to improve diagnoses and result in fewer invasive biopsies.
We are honoured that so many in our community choose to support the WCGH Foundation’s work to help meet our hospital’s unique needs and priorities. Every gift matters to us, no matter how big or small. All donors receive a thank you letter and tax-deductible receipt. Donors of gifts of $2,000 or more will receive a beautiful framed photograph of one of three iconic Port Alberni scenes. Donors of gifts of $5,000 or more may have their names placed on the Donor Recognition Wall if they wish.
Please also consider making a lasting gift by naming the WCGH Foundation as a beneficiary in your Will. Leaving a legacy donation is one of the most valuable ways to help our Foundation continue the important work of improving health care for everyone in the Alberni Valley today and for future generations.
